Blouberg

Blouberg translates literally into "Blue mountain" (The word Blouberg has evolved from the more Dutch original name "Blaauwberg" - which is also in contempary use):

Blou = Blaauw = blue

berg = mountain

The Blouberg mountain rises to the east of Melkbos. To approaching ships the mountain takes on a bluish tinge, hence the name "Blouberg", which is recorded as far back as two centuries ago.

There is even a song about Blouberg's Beach. For those of you who understand Afrikaans, here follows the words of "Op Blouberg se strand"
