Melkbos's flora
Melkbos's flora consists of two major veld types:

West Coast Strandveld
-
Dune veld.
This unique fynbos can be seen flourishing in the spring (August to October), the village and its surrounds are smothered with an unbelievable variety of its stunning wild flowers; the dunes & veld in and around Melkbos are massed with brightly coloured indigenous flowers, such as:
- gazanias
- vygies
- cancer bush
- cineraries
- lachenalias
